Amazon AWS Business Analyst Offer

Sep 30, 2021 10 Comments

Any inputs from Business Analysts at Amazon (AWS in particular)?
I see a lot of PIP posts for SDEs but any feedback from BAs about WLB, PIP, Culture in general.

Contemplating an offer. Any inputs appreciated.

Wouldn’t worry too much about what others say a 50% jump in TC seems like a no-brainer to me. Managers at Amazon are actually judged by hiring and retaining talent. They really don’t want you to fail.

Amazon is like a federation of teams, so lots of variance. I have also noticed the BA role varies a lot, from similar to BIE to tech. Program manager. I like my team, and wlb can be good one week bad the next. Or great for a year and then terrible for 6 months because no one gets back filled in that time. People get pipped and I have nightmares about it. I also hear much more about it in here than outside of Blind. Coming from another more traditional company, my team here is much less social and the environment is much more aggressive. I’d take the offer though, you will likely learn a lot and open up some doors later on.

I'm an L5 BA, but not AWS. You'll be expected to do a lot of work that's important, and also work that isn't even in your scope (a lot of my role is a combo of data eng, BA, DA, program management, and analytics). Is this an L5 position? They should be able to offer you 10-15K more
