Intern convert offer. MS grad with 2 YoE before MS.

This is the standard offer for current graduates. Don't they take previous experience into consideration? Can I negotiate based on my previous exp?

Sad that compensation is same for graduates with no exp vs experienced graduates! Any feedback from amazonians appreciated..

So I interned and converted so they won't consider my exp.. but had I applied to the same position for FT, they would have? The SDE1 hiring is not that hard.. so effectively what you're saying doing the internship was to my disadvantage..?

Yes, I have another offer with around the same TC.

I guess best way is to try asking them to convert it to a SDE1 offer not new grad

Isn't it sad that people with real world experience come for MS, and compete with students without any experience in MS?

"accept the offer" was as constructive as I could get on this post. :)

@ebay If it's relevant experience it's not true that "no one cares about it".. I have seen even internship salary numbers differ based on experience (2020 offers).. Some companies also take experienced new grads at a higher level too.. (of course depends on interview perf too)...

No, Amazon never negotiates on new grad offer (even with competing offers). On the bright side, your TC is same as Seattle new grad offer and Austin is much much cheaper than Seattle to live.

    • 1600-1800 for a 1 bed in Seattle?? That would be kind of dingy. For a quality 1 bedroom you're looking at 1900-2100 for something decent on that sort of salary. You could spend 2000-2200 in a good neighborhood and that would be a "nice" apartment, but nothing luxurious.

    • I guess studios might be cheaper and that was the previous discussion :)

Had a similar situation. I guess you can get promoted to L5 more quickly (I did it in 10 months) than someone with no exp. Just ask ur manager and he/she will help u get there.

University hire offers are unfortunately non-negotiable. Experience before masters also doesn’t count. You can always try to get external offers though that beat out the Amazon offer and try and negotiate.
