Will India/APAC be the new Silicon Valley?
Hi I need advice on how to navigate this issue. I have recently gotten a job offer for CSE role at aws (I would be relocating to a different country for the role). I have 5 job experiences listed on my resume. However I have 2 half truths on the earliest experiences at the beginning of my career. To be honest it has been this way for a longtime had not paid attention to it. And totally unnecessary. 1. I was recruited by an outsourcing firm XXXX to work for a large firm YYYY as an outsourced staff. My payslips and contract letter are from YYYY. On my resume it is listed that I worked for XXXX for the duration. The evidence I have showing my affiliation to XXXX are training certificates signed by the global HR for XXXX. The background check company requires contract letter or payslips as evidence. 2. I have volunteer experience on a project with another large company ZZZZ in my home country listed as ZZZZ(contract) on my resume. I only have a contactable reference (the project lead for ZZZZ at the time) as evidence. All other information is accurate without any exaggerations. How do I navigate this issue. I am already at the point of processing my visa. Is my offer toast? Any possibility of salvaging the situation? I have not been sent the link for work experience verification yet. Over sight from the recruiter i suspect but its coming soon i am sure.
it's probably fine - you're overthinking it. just tell them exactly what you have. you didn't lie - you just don't have all the right paperwork to back it up. volunteer experience I wouldn't worry about it and working as a contractor is pretty normal.
Okay, the first one isn’t bad actually. It would’ve looked a hell of a lot worse if you said on your resume that you worked for YYYY (FAANG) but you were just a contractor and you got hired and paid by XXXX. It’s not a disqualifier and I don’t think you’re toast, but you may want to get ahead of it by letting your recruiter know of what’s going on. You’re telling the truth, it’s just that it’s a bit of a roundabout situation with the actual proof. Tell your recruiter you have all the evidence you suggested. You didn’t lie, and I’m sure this situation happens more than you know especially at big companies like Amazon. Considering you haven’t been sent the link yet, you have time to collect opinions here on Blind. But you’re not out of the game yet, I think.
Hi @qworp. I am sorry I made an error in the initial post. This is the situation 1. I was recruited by an outsourcing firm XXXX to work for a large firm YYYY as an outsourced staff. My payslips and contract letter are from XXXX. On my resume it is listed that I worked for YYYY for the duration. The evidence I have showing my affiliation to YYYY are training certificates signed by the global HR for YYYY (I was trained by and all work I did was for YYYY). The background check company requires contract letter or payslips as evidence.
Amazon background check only do criminal history check. They don’t even verify employer history
Just hack the verification system, don’t they teach you that on LC
That's not an option for me unfortunately
Doesn’t sound like a huge discrepancy to me.
Lmao, you're not the first one to have an issue like this. Background check companies are assholes. No way around it. End result is they gather as much as they can and report it to your employment. Your employment is the one who cares, not them. Let your employer know "I am having a hard time getting this information" they will most likely understand and you will be hired regardless. In other words. Nobody is worried about this except you and some guy named Oleg at the BG company who wants to ask for things you can't provide.
Who is this oleg that you so highly speak of?
Hypothetical guy running the background check show in Haiti with a bag of Cheetos Puffs
It sounds like you have all the evidence you need, just add an explanatory note where necessary 😊
I would advise you to be proactive in contacting former managers and HR people from your previous jobs to get employment confirmation letters on company letterhead. They will ask for this. They'll sound all scary and menacing about needing to verify your employment for X years of experience and you'll need to cover that time with letters or payslips. Send a bunch of e-mails out ASAP.
I can't imagine they'll care about either of these things at all.
This is remind of Russian fable of lie spider does spin webs for flies but is trapping himself only!
In Soviet Russia web trap spider
Is this fable about the Soviet Union?
