How did you get the code assignment? Did you ask for a code assignment in replacement for coding interview or they offered it themselves?
If your submission was borderline, it could be several days because someone has to manually review it. I say this as a trained reviewer who gets several requests per week. We're asked to do it within 3 business days, but if we decline or let it lapse it can bounce around between several reviewers before it finally gets done (a week or more). The other possibility is that the recruiter is the blocker--noting that they obviously prioritize candidates who pass and/or are farther along in the process.
They got back to me in under an hour. It depends on a couple factors though.
