Hello Everyone, I have an on-site interview (virtual) coming up with Amazon for a Data Scientist position on the SCOT team. The interview is going to be 7 hours long and I have been asked to give a technical presentation (~ 1 hour) at the beginning. I really want to succeed and any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. What should I be mindful of and what are they looking for in the technical presentation? Is there anything specific I should be focusing more on apart from the usual technical aspects and leadership principles? Thanks in advance! #data #dataanalytics #datascience #scot #interview
You should get these clarified from the recruiter. This has been newly started for science roles in amazon. I have been to a couple of these. People talk about some topic from the work they have done previously. But this is extremely team specific as it is a new process. Double check it from the recruiter what are the requirements
The recruiter said it has to be on a technical topic and it should be very detailed. But just wanted to get a sense of how these presentations are evaluated.
The second question I have is - the recruiter told me to practice algorithm problems. I have a decent hold on Algorithms - i do leetcode in my free time. I can solve easy problems on leetcode and medium level with some extra level of effort. Should I be expecting crazy algorithm questions? I am sorry if I am asking too many questions but I really want this role. Thanks in advance. PS - I don’t have a background in CS. I am self taught.
Idk, but what I'd guess is treat it as if you were getting an outside DS team to proof your solution, or if you were an applied researcher giving a brown bag talk to a university department to get their input and share your cool project. Present the use case, general solution, and dive into the implementation details. Assume both people unfamiliar with your field and experts will be present.
Makes sense, thanks so much!
SCOT team role isn't too different from what I do in my current role. If you want, I can provide some inputs. Feel free to direct message me.
DM’d you. Thanks so much!
Feel free to DM me for support on preparing for the LP interviews.
Just DM’d! Thanks so much!
Do you have a project you worked on that was interesting or some research you can present? I applied for a research scientist position in the SCOT team (didn't get it), and my presentation was based on my research. Will echo you should verify with the recruiter.
Can you check DM please?
Never heard of a presentation at Amazon
