Hey guys, I passed the technical interview for a DS role (mainly ML questions with some SQL and Python). Was just wondering if I could get any hints/pointers on the onsite for a Data Scientist role? From what I've been reading about other Amazon onsite interviews it seems that the Leadership Principles will play a huge part. If anyone who has gone through a DS onsite with Amazon can comment I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks everyone!
How did you prepare for the ML questions and SQL before the interview? Any resources you recommend?
There wasn’t anything specific I was looking at - I think the questions are similar to the ones you see when you google top ML questions. For SQL I’d say if you’re comfortable with joining and subqueries you should be fine
Bump - anyone else?
did you finish the onsite? what did they ask?
I went through it. A ton of “tell me about a time when you demonstrated X” where X is one of the leadership principles. I only spoke to one other data scientist who asked me some stats and SQL and was ultimately rejected because they “didn’t get enough signal on my technical abilities.”
Thanks! This is very helpful. For the stats, was it more focused on probability teasers, hypothesis testing, ML or something else?
Hypothesis testing and experimentation. There could be some pseudocode whiteboarding too
