I have interviewed at Amazon recently (on-site). I had 4 interviews. Each had technical part and the behavioural part. I aced the technical part. But, for multiple behavioural questions, I took examples from the same project. ( I am a student. Applied for SDE1). The individual interviewers were saying the example is good. But I am afraid if the hiring manager goes through all of them, he/she will find that I used the same experience for many questions. (My last interview was with the hiring manager) I want to know how the interviews are evaluated. Will the hiring manager alone decide ? Will there be a meeting with the interviewers ? Will the interviewers give their opinion on a candidate or will they just record their observations in an interview and pass it on to the hiring manager ? What is the time frame ? How long would it normally take to get an update ?
Each of the interviewer, including the hiring manager will write the feedback as detailed as possible and submit along with their decision of inclined or not inclined. Then they all sit in a room and briefly discuss whether to offer the role or not or if they have to downlevel( not applicable for SDE1s).
So the actual answers to LP questions aren't discussed?
Thank you very much. Really cleared a lot.
The target for an update for on-site is 5 business days at Amazon. Hopefully you get an offer.
Thank you.
This. 5 business days is their standard. I was told on day 4 I was going to be made an offer.
I think using 1 experience for answering multiple questions is perfectly fine. I did the same thing and got an offer fro Amazon.
Yeah, I used 1 experience with multiple interviewers, and on top of that I just didn't have an answer for like half of the LP questions. Still got the offer for SDE2. I aced 2 coding rounds, 1 coding was meh, and completely bombed system design. Seems like they are really desperate at hiring. I didn't expect an offer, or at least down-level in the best case.
Why didn't you join?
Is that really a problem for a student/SDE1? How much experience are you expected to have?
any lc hard in coding round?
Not for me. It was pretty easy.
thanks
