Never heard of that, but chances are it might be seen as arrogant right out the gate and you’ll be turned away. Job postings are for certain levels for a reason

No way. For all you may know that HM might not have the funds or requirement for a L6. Your best bet is to look for a L6 job posting and try to convince the HR/HM why you should be evaluated for that instead of L5
