Amazon L4 BA comp range?

Hey Blind, My acquaintance got an offer at Amazon as an L4 Business Analyst in Seattle, and I'm trying to figure out the compensation bands for this level+role to determine how much can be negotiated for. Is this a good offer? How much of this is negotiable without a competing offer? New grad, Masters degree in statistics, internships all non-relevant Base: 75k Bonus: 20k RSU: 30k TC (mine): 170k

What is your friend’s level of education and YOE? It’s a fantastic offer for GED+0 YOE, and a terrible offer for PhD+3 YOE. Point is: provide more detail

Updated the post with more details. Masters degree, 0 YOE

For a PhD+3 YOE - what should you expect?

Absolutely lowballed. Your friend should demand min 100k in base. RSU & bonus not bad. If negotiations go nowhere, and your friend can’t get anything else, here’s a suggestion: take the job, work for at least one year, gain experience, apply to other big companies as a data scientist, get TC ~ 250k!

What org is the BA role in? If it's a non-tech org that's actually a decent offer without in role experience to speak to. For instance if it is in a business org or customer service that's about right for an L4. If however, it is in a tech org such as AWS or Digital and Devices it is a smidge low. Sadly, L4 salary roles are quite low compared to L5 and up.

It is in a tech org. When you say a smidge low, what would the expected TC be then?

Rsu and bonus are decent just make sure your friend knows the bonus will mess up TC for all the years it is active. Base seems like it should be about 85k for a recent grad without any background experience. However moving for L4 to L5 is simple within a year which varries a hefty base pay lift.
