Amazon L7 PM Offer Help?
I’m expecting an offer as an L7 PM within AWS... Need some negotiation help from you guys! Can folks share their TC? I’m long in the tooth, 20 yrs experience. I’d like to be on the upper end of the range. Also wondering if comp overlaps across band — is the lower end of L8 also the upper end of L7?

L7 can be around $350k I think? Depending? I’m not sure if there’s a difference between Principal PM and Sr Manager PM for tc. Do you know which you’d be? Lots of awesome L7 PMs in AWS, which team are you looking to join?

I would say this is in the higher end. I only have one data point. I had an offer from Amazon for L6 with a TC of 400k and they said it was way above the L6 range and actually at L7. (The reason I got such a high offer is because , I am currently at Google and the stock did well which helped my current TC)
Does uber still have that kind of weight? I’ve an offer from Amazon and looking to negotiate
My experience has been that Amazon cannot stretch too much. So Uber's offer may not help too much.
To answer a few of your questions... there’s a big gap between L7/L8, so no there won’t be overlap for a new hire (maybe a longer tenured Sr Mgr though bc of stock appreciation pushing TC above range). In terms of comp, L7 has a huge range. There’s a pretty big difference between the Principal and Sr Mgr roles. Also a difference if you’re classified as a PM-T (tech, which I’d assume yes for AWS roles). Clarifying those two points will help provide a more accurate ballpark number.
The verbal offer was for “Sr Manager, Product Mgmt” (though I was told PPM and SrMgr were same level?). Yes this would be PM-T.
TC top of range offer for L7 PPM in Bay Area is >=430k (top talent, pedigree etc) during the first year (incl 5% rsu vest and first installment of sign-on).. I believe L8 lower end is at least 30% more while the median is 50% higher.. Getting into Amzn at L8, (e.g. dir of product) is uncommon..
L8 external hire are those whi already made it into the C-level at other very well known companies and willing to “downgrade” just to join Amazon.
Just to be clear, that top of range applies to L7 Sr Mgr, PM as well?
Looking at recent L8 hires on LinkedIn for AWS...not all meet that criteria — granted, absolute numbers hired into L8 PM are low...
