Guys, I have an on-site coming soon and I was asked to prepare the LP of Amazon and come up with at least 3 situations for each principle So since I didn’t faced so many situations in my previous jobs I am wondering whether you can share with me yours :-)
Is it ok to say no for some questions if I haven't experienced such situations before?
No, it is not okay.
You could say you haven't had a situation and then possibly could answer hypothetically?
They are trying to see if you can be a leader...not some randoms in blind
Ok I’ll tell you one. One time at band camp, I stuck a flute up my butt.
Okay those are S and T. How about A and R
I then realized I can still deliver on my comitments if I Think Big. So I ate a truck loads of beans and farted till I was blue in the face. The flute played the music. Deadline met. Results delivered. I now mentor new hires by sticking flutes up their arses. That's my hire and develop the best.
The situations need not be dramatic, even simple daily situations work as well. The situation and the result is not important it’s what actions you took and how your thinking and actions implicitly showcase the leadership principles that matters. Amazon interview is a good exercise to introspect what you did, what you could have done, what’s the impact of it etc. think hard. At least have 14 ( one for each) and 4 for back up.
Thanks this is very helpful
I prepared 5 situations that can be mapped to multiple principles. 1 for each principle would be like 14 shallow stories.
Seriously if you can’t come up with three each you are not a fit and don’t bother. That’s the point of it - do you do the things Amazon values or not.
3 per LP is too many. Just list down times when you did good work, solved interesting problems, showed general leadership skills. Try to swing them differently and map these to multiple LPs.
Prepare more for LP. They focus more on that than technical if you r being consider ed for higher role.
just make up some bs, that's exactly how those LP were made up anyway

They ask a lot of follow up questions, you should think of your own examples.
