Amazon Leadership principle- Leaders are right a lot

Can someone provide examples for this Amazon Leadership principle- Leaders are right a lot? Is it about being flexible on approach?

I think it means to not listen to others and stick with what you think is right .... maybe ?

Not exactly. Let’s hear it from amazon folks.

IMO, it means don’t make mistakes

No, it means make calculated risks. The reason this is one of the harder LPs is because you have to have experience to know which risks are worth taking and how much the payoff will be.

Hey, I thought you can be flexible in your approach. And have to have open minded. It’s not related to risk. Can someone pls confirm,

Here is my take on it ( after successfully clearing interviews and about to join soon).. they want to judge your decision making skills and also want to understand how you arrived at the decision (what sample data did you have to work with, how did you gather more data).. most confuse the above LP to something like my 'gut feel' said so, but what Amazon is interested is how did you arrive at the decision (irrespective of outcome, although success is more sweeter to explain).

Hey thank you. It all boil down to data driven decision in this case. Any other thoughts?

Correct. The questions themselves are often like tell me about a time you grew an idea, you faced failure, you solved a complex problem etc. While the main question doesn't make it obvious they are trying to judge the above LP, follow up questions are usually how did you decide your approach, how would you do things differently, what sample data did you have, how did you gather more data, did you seek approval or were you able to proactively work towards a solution in parallel etc (which cover more than one LP)

Agree. When to make reversible decisions or not
