Have two offers. Amazon Lvl 5 BIE, which uses a lot of Redshift, S3, Python, SQL and reporting. FB Data Scientist, Analytics position which is more on SQL, AB testing, reporting and product analytics. My end goal: Be a Product manager, (Senior/TPM at Amazon), in 3 - 4 years. My thinking is, BIE at Amazon works very closely with TPM, but FB DS, Analytics position is focused on products, such as Instagram, etc.. But FB hires so many DS, Analytics, I fear it might dilute my work. I'm 26 years old, and seriously looking to move forward to be a TPM/Product Manager. Which job should I choose. Note: though TC plays an important role, it's not the most important factor for me. I want to go somewhere I can grow professionally. #leetcode #amazon #facebook YoE: 2 FB TC: 165K Seattle Amazon: 155K Seattle
Is that ic3 for fb?
Offer is kinda low for FB. Is this ic3 or ic4
Ic4. Should I negotiate ?
You should definitely negotiate. Ic4 ranges from 160 to 260
Also, can I DM you. I have questions on how you prepped for the FB interview
Yeah sure
@GoogEsla - I have an initial interview round coming up with FB for a DS role. Do you mind if I DM you for tips on how to prep! Note: I'm L5 BIE at Amazon and can give you some perspective on how it's here:)
I think fb offer is better. Bie L5 at Amazon is just someone who pulls data and does MBR, WBR
If your objective is to definitely move to a PM role, take the Amazon offer. The DS yo PM switch is much much more difficult at FB as compared to Amazon. On the other hand if your objective is to grow within the analytics space or even move to a more technical role, go for FB as you will get better projects to work on as compared to Amazon BIE
My obj is definitely to be a PM, but I don't know what'll happen at Amazon, I know Amazon is a huge company and I cannot generalize everything, but most of the reviews, especially on blind have be nothing but horrible regarding amazon. Don't want to make a mistake when I'm planning to stay long term and grow professionally
I think people over criticize Amazon. It is definitely not at par with Google or FB when it comes to taking care of its employees. However, there is no other company out there where you can make a switch as comfortably as at Amazon. You will have enough opportunity to stay long term and grow professionally at Amazon
what's your final decision on this? facing same situation
Would appreciate it if you could share your interview experience with fb. What was the technical session like?
