[No trolling please] I joined Amazon in March-19 as Sr.TPM (L6). On the very first day on my joining, my manager assigned a very critical, complex, and high visibility program to me (having S-Team Goal). I worked very hard to ramp up myself with the Amazon domain, culture, and delivered (Oct-2019 end - WW) the Program well on time without dropping a single item. The Program is a big success and was appreciated on a very high level. Around the last week of Sep-19, for the very first time, my manager gave me a few review comments and also sent an mail on the discussion. I worked on those review comments and ensured he should not have those concerns in the future. Oct-19 last-week; just after my program was launch, my manager appreciated me by giving the Pivot document. Pivot came to me as a big surprise, as: 1. My manager gave the review comments just once in 6 months that too, without any quantified goal or dates. 2. He never discussed how I am performing on those review comments 3. He never talks/informed me about the Dev plan During my Pivot discussion, he included some f*** tiny comments on my performance and severance options. I opted to go for Pivot as I was pretty sure and confident that I would able to perform and come out of it. While signing the Pivot document, I felt like I am signing my death sentence. Last-week of Nov-19 - The mid-Pivot review was right; I was able to achieve three out of 5 goals. Mid Dec-19 - During 2nd review, he told me that I do not satisfy 2 of the goals, would not come out of Pivot, and this will result in the termination of my services from Amazon by 1st week of Jan. First, I thought to appeal against his decision, but it is just another setup to let you down, and hence I dropped the idea. I am on H1B - searching job during Nov & Dec was next to impossible; I requested my manager to extend my tenure for some more time. He extended the mandate to mid of Feb. Current situation - next Friday - 2/14, is my last working day with Amazon, but unfortunately, I don't have anything in my hand. During my tenure with Amazon, I learned one thing - delivery is not the supreme driver here, and you should be politically safe to survive in Amazon. I have never been to this situation in my entire career of 18 years, currently broken and losing my confidence. I am looking for help - if you can refer me to your organization (outside Amazon). #amazon #pivot #help

Sorry that happened to you. Never a good situation to be in. However, it being amazon you should know how they truly live and breathe the LPs. It seemed you didnt take ownership of the pivot activities/tasks (just completing them or not isnt the only thing I'm talking about) and sure, manager may not have given much feedback but you didnt ask either (lack of bias for action). Its an escalation culture. If you asked and kept pestering for feedback and he didnt, paper trail could lead up to the skip or higher. If you call this political, then thats what it is. But from your story, you, yourself could have done more to save yourself. But its done now, good luck, and hopefully everyone involved learned something from it all.
Oh for fucks sake, you’re part of the problem. you should know that the LPs can be argued from either side (you either displayed them or a lack of them) for almost every action. And if you can’t, then you can use one LP to invalidate another. It’s by design, so your holier than thou attitude is exactly the political posturing OP is complaining about. What’s your team so I know never to work with you
Triggered much? I'm not saying he didnt get the shit end of the stick, he may very well have, but at the same time OP didnt seem to want to save himself and of course when you're on a PIP/pivot its not *just* about checking off boxes. You gotta kill it in more ways than one. Thats all I'm saying. This is me playing devils advocate. Its like you guys think politics is something you can avoid or choose not to participate in and everythings gonna be alright.

I apologize for the dumb question; Is Pivot the PIP?
Yup.. a sophisticated way to killing..
Sorry bro. I hope you’re going to find something soon.

OP, hope you got a better opportunity. Did you have to return the sign on for the first year prorated ? As I see you worked for 11 months
You don't get sign on as a lump sum, you get a portion with every paycheck
OP, What did you do? Did you manage to get something within your 60-day grace period? I am interested to know how the story ended. Please DM me if you like. Thanks.
Good luck.. hope you find something soon
