I recently received verbal offer from Amazon for SDE I (though I was expecting SDE II). I am specifically looking for teams in New York. Please suggest some good teams in New York location with okay WLB (not too much aggressive) and I can learn a lot (also enjoyable). And what TC should I target? Interview details: Coding was very good. Leadership principles was good (at least thats what I felt). System design was okay. TC: Not yet discussed YOE: 4 #newyork #amazonnyc
Commerce platform insights is good, wlb is pretty great, but not that much to learn. Rekognition has a lot to learn, but wlb is unknown. Ads sucks
If you received a verbal offer, you don’t get to pick your team...plus a lot of teams in Amazon have shied away from hiring Industry sde 1s so be glad you found a team with vp approval to do so. It will not be easy for you to change teams before even starting
I just received verbal offer and recruiter told me that she is trying to schedule meetings for team mapping. Does that mean that offer is not confirmed until I get assigned to a team? Are there any chances of Amazon backing out?
Most likely what happened was you got downleveled, their team isn’t allowed to hire sde 1s. So the recruiter is trying to place you in another team. But they might not be able to find a team willing to hire Industry sde 1 this early in the year. Or they might find you one or more teams and pitch them to you. But unfortunately, yes, Amazon might back out.
@roxta Try the Ads team. I recently accepted an offer with the Ads team at Amazon in NYC. PM me for comp stuff.
I just DM you
@adv9 just dmed you with a few questions
Dmed you with a few questions
Interview more bro. Get a competing offer, you may then negotiate for SDE II I think. A friend of mine got offered SDE II from Amazon with 2 YOE ( 215K TC )
Ya I tried. Interviewed with Microsoft. They wanted to consider me for data engineer position but I am more interested in SDE. Now I don’t have any interviews lined up.
This is stupid advice. They wont up your level even with a competing offer. They might offer more comp, but not a higher leve
