I got hired by Amazon about 2 years ago. The unite was super hush-hush so I didn’t even get a clear JD before signing. After couple of days I decided it wasn’t for me and decided to quit after one pay roll. Plus, my old boss was offering me a return package that was really hard to pass (little I knew most of it was a mirage and I still fell for it - that’s for another post LOL) Now, I am trying to get back to Amazon and through the HM I got to know that I have a ‘no hire’ put on me. The HM got the ‘go ahead’ from the top lead and the team is OK but the HRBP (whom I never met) and the HR lead on the division have put ‘no hire’ apparently. Is this OK? Can they do that? I understand that they might have issues with ‘Earn Trust’ Leadership Principle but it’s not like I left on bad terms or got fired or was on PP… How do you think I should go about this? Sit outside their offices on a strike? :)
Yes they can do that.
I hope you’re not trolling. It pretty much means you’re blacklisted forever. Quitting after a couple of months is a red flag. Sorry, I don’t believe you can reverse this.
Only for that division or the entire org?
Entire company
Take the L, understand you've been blacklisted from Amazon, and move on.
Yes, HR can do that. But I guess given that it’s been a while, can anyone add how OP can circumvent. How to help him.
Appreciate it :)
Maybe OP can ask if it is indefinite. Usually, they bar reapplicants for a year, but since it’s been 2 years, it sounds like this is an indefinite black list.
I was thinking of reaching out to the HRBP or the Lead guy and explain myself. I have been on other calls for other locations with them but didn’t want to move and never made it to the 3rd round...so since I got the call, does that mean I am still BL?
You gamed Amazon, I doubt they will ever hire you.
That's not "gaming" Amazon. I have a colleague who was laid off a few months after joining Microsoft as part of the 2014 Windows Phone layoffs.
Question - how long would you say is a good duration to stay at a company before leaving?
Wait if you quit you are blacklisted?
My exact point!!
He quit after one payroll... might not be even one month just a few days. So, "Trust" is not there .
You quit after one payroll.. what did you think was gonna happen lol
It’s been a while since I’ve read a post from someone so naive. Maybe you’ll learn from this experience.
Explain more please
Like others are saying: take the loss and move on. That you didn’t see this coming and did what you did shows that you don’t understand a lot about working for a company.
