Just took an OA for an AWS Solutions Architect role. It was not what I expected. They gave me like a virtual email client and I had to read the emails and then either answer a multiple-choice question on the best response or group 5 answer by category from most effective to least effective. Some were tech-focused but some were like optimizing routes for delivery drivers. I think this is LP focused.

Then there was a section where you rate your level of comfort in an area. The questions are like "I get frustrated when I'm under pressure" versus "I do my best work under pressure." You pick a side and then state if it's "most like you" or "somewhat like you". I guess this is behavioral screening.

Then there was a tech screening that was like questions about common networking/development type stuff. I think this is based on which of the top 2 out of 4 areas you rank yourself in their tech areas. I think the options were: compute, modern data platform, development, migration.

Is this a new process? I've never really heard anyone mention this type of OA. #solutionarchitect

I'm also in process of applying for SA. I have to finish OA in 7 days. Sounds like we're in same boat.

I talked to the recruiter and she didn't know what exactly was the next step but she said depending on how you do on the OA, you might either get phone screen or go directly to the loop.

They said if they had any concerns or wanted to get clarity on something, they might do a phone screen. But yeah OA is something new that they introduced because I think the influx of applicants. Hope this helps.

How long after you applied did you hear from them? Did you have a referral? I had a referral to a public sector SA role but passed on it and applied to a non public sector SA role but haven’t heard from them.

I did not apply. Recruiter reached out to me. She fast tracked me because I told her I was already interviewing and close to offers.

Is the SA role remote? And is the loop virtual?

I think generally SA roles offer flexibility with working remotely. And the loop is virtual due to COVID.
