hey folks, I have been offered a l6 UX design offer with amazon and i actually countered their original offer and they accepted everything i asked...which was super surprising. can you tell me how this feels? its for seattle tc:270k base:160 sign on: 110/80 rsu:106 yoe:6 thanks!
Sounds like midband for L6 UX. They probably lowballed you first time around.
Dang it really goes higher?! This seems like so much to me.
Honestly, all that matters is whether you’re satisfied with it. Do you still want to negotiate/have any other offers for leverage? More importantly, do you like the team you’re joining?
If they matched then you went under the max, basic negotiation.
Is it better to overshoot? My concern is always: what if I ask too much in the initial counter, and they just say "Sorry, you're too expensive", and go for the other candidate right behind me who will take a lower TC. Also, what's too big a swing? I was thinking of an initial tack on of $50K (not as part of sign on.. just either salary or RSU) if I have to move.
Those are legit concerns, some offer better than none.. I’ve heard amazon does do that. Maybe share numbers of competing offers and ask what’s the absolute best we can do..? You’re really interested in the particular team you interviewed with etc
If that is really your offer for Seattle, you are definitely overpaid, so take the offer and run. This is way above band for L6 UXD.
They said that it was a very high offer for ux design but I honestly didn’t know if they were telling the truth or not. This is my first FAANG job. I’m going to accept.
Congrats! It’s a great offer.
Well done. Most important thing you are happy about it and the team seems good.
Thank you!
Congrats!
Could you please share what was your original offer? and what did you use as counter offer(your current TC or competing offer?)
Could you please share what the initial offer was? Thank you!
You feel overpaid, So probably very good
