Amazon Offer SDE-1 evaluation

Reposting for broader audience in the correct Compensation topic with current TC and situation details. AWS Palo Alto offer - TC: 195K Recruiter provided me 3 options to choose from - 1. Base - 151K RSU - 52 Sign on year 1 - 41K Sign on year 2 - 30K 2. Base - 160.5K RSU - 43 Sign on year 1 - 31K Sign on year 2 - 25K 3. Base - 144K RSU - 60 Sign on year 1 - 46K Sign on year 2 - 35K How is the offer? Any room for negotiation? Full time YOE: < 1 Which offer should I choose? High base or high RSU or mix? Current TC: 185K (155k base, 30K stocks/year) About to be promoted at current job: 177K base, 40K/year stocks (207K TC next year). CK stocks are not public so don't know how much to consider them. Visa is one of the main issue I have to consider the switch as Amazon has huge international presence!

Please do the math and post avg yearly TC for each Amazon option. Or GTFO

TC is 195K for any option which I posted on first line. None is less or more (at least not drastically!)

Ahh my bad. Misunderstood that. Congrats, my choice is option 2. More cash is always better.

Get higher base as amazon RSU vesting is useless 5/15/40/40 .

VMware None. Oct 22, 2019

Exactly, Ask your recruiter about vesting. You are getting good pay. Interns converted to full time aren't getting this much. But still negotiate. Ask for 50k RSU with Option 2. Congratulations! All the best!

@vmware Do you mean 50 RSUs? These are number of RSUs not RSU value

More stock if you think you’ll stay for 4 years and amazon will shoot to the moon. Otherwise more base if you’re thinking about bouncing in a year or two. For raise, you’ll be hit the base cap soon, so keep that in mind

Take whatever pays you the most upfront. The odds are you’ll hate it here and leave before 2 years is up.
