1) When on PIP can you transfer to another team in Amazon 2) what are the chances to succeed when on PIP. 3)Pros and cons of taking it or not taking it
I have the choice of either leaving or taking the PIP
I do not think there is company on earth that allows you to transfer teams when on PIP.
How many have succeeded taking the route of PIP Is it doable?
Obviously you don’t have access to amazon private threads, but there’s a good number of people.
Where is that thread?
1) No 2) Very low 3) Pros: have a chance of staying at Amazon, extend employment time. Cons: if unsuccessful lower severance, see 2. Not confirmed: ineligible for rehire if failing PIP One should first appeal Pivot then decide if taking PIP makes sense if appeal doesn't succeed. PIP is basically when Amazon has already decided to fire you IMO
Thank you for sharing
What's the severance like with and without PIP?
DM me for referral to LinkedIn. Nobody deserves to work for crappy companies like Amazon.
Why would you not take the pip? Even if you intend on leaving, you basically get paid longer, for doing minimal work (if you don't care about staying). Or does pip put you on a blacklist that leaving doesn't?
Severance on failed PIP is lower. PIP is usually designed for failure. The chance to get back on track is dev list which is before, but these are often secret or not that obvious. PIP can be cut short at any time. Also, apparently, leaving before PIP on Pivot make one eligible for rehire after 1yr while failing PIP makes one ineligible. This is new for this year. Doesn't make sense to me as both are failures.
Thanks for that, that explains it. Didn't know Amazon had severance!
Seriously we are infested with awful managers and if they want to look good to a VP they will pull this crap. I just got out of one and it was only because I documented things so well and the manager didn’t. The manager didn’t count on me being meticulous plus they didn’t do their homework. I showed all of my evidence and it was very damning. I am sorry this is happening to you. I am out of it but looking elsewhere for another job. I feel like they are too many Barney Fifes.
My God you hit the nail on the head with the Barney Fife. So much machismo when people get a title. It's like watching someone turn into a werewolf.
Do you have a choice on taking it?
