Palo Alto office does that. I interviewed for L5 TAM and they offered L4. I declined

They only downlevel if you don't meet the bar for SDE 2 50 percentile

Isn't the standard l4 offer higher than anything tcs pays?
I've seen as high as 290k

Your base can go as hi as 185 the rest is singnon for first 2 yrs and stock vested at 5/15/40/40
