Hi , I have an offer from Amazon RDS team based out of East Palo Alto. Going through reviews I’m a little skeptical about the work culture and work life balance in general at amazon. I however hear that it’s usually a hit and miss and depends largely on the manager and group. It would be great if anyone aware could share some feedback.

Yoe, TC?
It depends which team in RDS it's a big org some teams have crazy OE some don't. But all are working on old code base so development is very slow and error prone. Ask how many COEs their team had in last 6 months. How many sev2s they get each day. How many devs are currently in the team as that will dictate the oncall rotation. Do they have oncall following the sun or will you be 24hr oncall?.
AFAIK (2 year old info) that is a good team exciting work they are not on legacy code base. And the Sr SDM is liked by devs.
Isn't East Palo Alto supposedly a dangerous area? Didn't realize tech companies were setting up offices there.
OP did you join Amazon finally?
Did you ask your hiring manager about on call load and also diversity?
Edited : Yes I did . I was told that the on-call load is pretty okay and not super crazy . Each dev goes on call for a day once in 3-4 weeks. I’m not too sure about the diversity though
It doesn’t seem like your answer is speaking to either of the points in the question: oncall load, diversity.
