If we choose to drive to Seattle for relocation from DC (i.e. road trip) vs. flights (we have a 45 lb dog and I am not shipping her as cargo), will Amazon reimburse for this? Rental car cost, hotels along the way, etc.? Anyone do this?
Yea they will pay, didnāt you get a relo packet
Yes, but just saw the flight option to get there. Not pay-for-a-cross-country-trip option.
What level? I am l6 and they reimbursed for mileage, hotels, and food over 8 days. They do not reimburse rental car
I believe one alternative is that you can use Alaska Airlines your dog and the entire pack can take the same flight. You will need to check in and out your dog prior to boarding and after the landing. She will need to travel in the cargo section while the rest of you will take the main cabin but I believe itās still better than shipping her. If I remember right the price was $100.
I have nightmares about putting her in cargo. I'd rather drive for 8 days than do that!!
Good thing you didnāt relocated from across the ocean (I did with 3 dogs - one had to go in cargo - was just fine)
They only give $15k for a cross-country relocation?!
15K seems a lot to me
It's not. Breaking my lease will cost almost all of that at minimum.
They will reimburse . Already spoke to their relo contractors ( Gabriel) and said they will pay 60 cents (donāt remember exact) per mile and hotel stay for every 500 miles with max 2 nights. Do call your relocation advisor , you should have received email from them already
Will do! Was still deciding between lump & that. Definitely not going with the lump after reviewing some research.
Lump is not worth it . You get lot more in Amazon managed move. Reading your other comments, it does cover the lease break amount if youāre L5-L6 On top you get movers(door to door) and one time amount of $3500 which you can use to cover miscellaneous expenses like car rental
Lump sum is not worth it.
You can buy a service dog certificate and then your dog can fly with you in the plane cabin. Google it.
Thought of that too. May go that route, although an Aussie on a plane cabin sounds kind of like a nightmare too.
They only gave me 7k for a cross country relocation lump sum. Didnāt even give me an option for assisted moving š Also L5
Hey Iām going thru a similar experience. Will be relocating from dc to Seattle in May and I have 2 dogs. Did you end up driving? If so, How many hotel nights did they cover?
If you take the lump sum, you can use it for whatever you want. But if you want to swap your flight for a car and half a dozen hotels, no.
Flight + i'd be staying in their corporate housing for that week anyway. What's the difference between that and hotels on the road? :) But anyway, yeah, I figured. Lump sum not nearly comparable to their reimbursements. Breaking my lease alone will eat up 12k of their 15k lump.
Breaking lease is upto 3k. I joined at L5
