I was told to apply for a RS II role in Seattle by Amazon Recruiter. I did and got scheduled for phone interview next week. Recruiter wanted me to get back to her via email to a list of questions prior to the phone interview with one of which was "what is my expected TCC?". I'm currently a DS in Boston with ~4 yoe working for a small company with low TC (100K). So I would personally be happy with 200K especially given that I haven't even completed my master's yet (currently working on it part-time). But I don't want to undersell myself either at the same time. Any help in how to get back to the recruiter or coming up with a fair market value would be much appreciated. Would also highly appreciate any tips on how to best prepare for the technical phone interview as this is my first time interviewing for a FAANG. Thanks in advance! #amazonsalary #researchscientist #seattle
You could look at SDE bands since there's more data on SDE salaries RE should be > SDE
I don't know if there's any difference, but just for clarification, this is RS and not RE. But I've seen/heard that as well, thanks for your input on adding another data point!
Ex-amazon here. RS band is comparable to SDE band.
Where was your undergrad? Top 3?
Nope, Tier 3 university
No offense, but research scientist is usually like at least MS/PhD candidates from what I’ve seen.
