Anyone moved from Amazon to companies that have better WLB for little sacrifice in pay?

Did WLB really get better when you moved to companies like oracle Expedia intuit etc? Or did you feel work load is same as Amazon?

If your work life balance improved can you explain how?

I have good wlb so I’d never do that. Just switch teams or get into google.

Been at Expedia for over 4 years. I am an engineer. The pay is relatively low here but surprisingly better than Microsoft. Knock on the wood, Expedia is very rewarding in different ways. The culture of good WLB, personal learning time, employee wellness, empathy, at the same time customer focus, reasonable and flexible deadlines, emphasis on doing right rather than doing in hurry, and actually making a manager hold accountable for the success/ fail of team members and team projects. Unlike my last company Amazon, at Expedia manager is the first one to get fired if anything happens and held accountable for the success/ fail of team members and team projects. Managers have just the right amount of authority and accountability. Definitely the better places to work at if you've a family. Both spouses are working and yet able to manage home and work responsibilities.

After considering reasons one would work, such as wlb, culture, vesting, operations load etc, word on the street is that Amazon is tier πŸ’©

You'd be surprised. A lot of "low tier companies" pay way better than Amazon.

I've had offers from FANG and a "low tier company" and the other company paid 100k more. (Both top of the band)

So the logic that only FANG pays well is very well flawed.
