Amazon SDE New Grad Location Negotiable?

I recently got an offer from Amazon in Seattle. I also have a return offer from Capital One in NYC. Ideally, I would like to stay in NYC to be closer to family. I'm not looking to negotiate compensation as it seems fixed for new grads. Does anyone know if location is negotiable for new grad roles at Amazon? Any thoughts on which offer to take? Right now I think Amazon would be better for my career and my wallet but Capital One would be better for my mental health and overall happiness. TC: $150k

Why not just ask and give your reasoning?

Don’t come here. It’s a trap

You need to decline the Amazon offer and get on a wait list for NYC. Not everyone will get an NYC offer so you're gambling here. Best bet is to do a year in Seattle and then transfer to NYC. The faster you get to SDE2 the easier it will be too find a team to take you. Also, Capital One will set your career back compared to Amazon and other FAANG.

Is it because there's less spots in NYC? Or because the teams in NYC are better and more selective?

Less spots in NYC. Most teams willing to take SDE1 are in Seattle. And a lot of NYC SDE1 will come from people who did internships in NYC and got a return offer.

And Capital One is a tech company. Just ask the recruiter.
