What's the pay for SDE1 at Amazon in Seattle? I interviewed for SDE2 but got offered a SDE1 instead. They thought my system design skills were not up to mark for SDE2. I have 6 years of work experience but the first three was more of tech management than hands on coding. What's a good offer? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
High offer is around 170 TC
Should be a total comp of about 150-155k. Above that would inch you towards sde2 so they wont go up.
Expect 105 base 50-60k worth of stocks and 40-50k bonus. Overall compensation in your first year would be more than 125k but under 150k
I must be retarded how do those numbers equal under 150k? I am not trying to be rude I just unaware of how these big companies pay
What about sign on bonus?
Stocks vest over 4 years with the bulk vesting in years 3 & 4. Bonus is disbursed over first two years.
Thank you for the replies. Seems like there is quite a bit of range. Will wait for them to send over an offer and then see if I can negotiate.
You will consider SDE I role with 6 years experience? Run & start respecting yourself. What's wrong with you people? Bezos is already the richest man in the world, he doesn't need your charity.
I joined amazon after 6 years of experience as sde-1. I was in a VLSI design company and my job had no relevance to amazon's web services and internet industry. Also my pay in bay area was lower than what amazon offered me in seattle 🤷🏻♂️. So, why should One run away if they are trying to switch their industry or move away from a job that doesn't have much space to grow? Your ego will only prevent you from trying new things :)
I'll have to agree with you. If you have no leverage, it is ok to suck Bezos' balls. You just have to know if you bring value to the table or under the table.
Don't come here as SDE 1. I had 4 yrs of experience in tech before joining Amazon. You will see people who have 2 yrs of exp and are SDE 2. They do it to save money.
if OP can do well in first year, promo will not too far away. we want new hire to better than 50% of the current population.
Depends on a lot of factors. Team, manager and other factors. Always remember first few month by most!! new hires are spent ramping up
OP - Did you get the offer?
Not yet, still figuring out the team to go to. Was told an offer would be generated after that's sorted out.
Try Oracle BMC
300K To be honest, SDE I is new grad level.
300k at new grad level?
That's troll
