I have been offered SDE1 after 4.5 yrs of experience and the compensation Amazon is offering for Seattle location is 135k Base 30k+30k sign on over 2 years 25 stock units which is about 44k TC : Around 175k Are they lowballing me? I have few more offers but not from FAANG. Should I even consider this offer? Current TC : 120k Current YOE : 4.5yrs TIA
Base is good for Seattle, but ask for more sign on and stocks.
In case you have almost 5 years experience and they still want to hire you at L4, this is not a bad offer. You should try to ask for a L5 position if you want more money. Amazon has shockingly inconsistent (so sometimes very very low) hiring bar. So I think you are either misplaced or over paid. In case you are over paid, you should take it.
Why does blind always say lowball with zero info? His 4.5 YOE means nothing if he sucks.
U should get more offer and have them compete. 4.5YOE should be at sde2
Experience doesn’t matter . SDE2 need a combination of soft and tech skills for them to be successful. I have seen good SDE 1 with experience progress well after they are hired . The TC is on par with SDE1
L4 with 4.5 years of experience. Wow. It's technically more than you make now but if you don't get promoted within a year it's bad times
Very low-ball offer. For your YOE the offer should be a SDE2 atleast. Even for SDE1 your offer is low-ball You are good on base. They can double your stock and sign on
That offer is for Seattle so it’s not low ball at all for SDE1. But I agree they downleveled OP
