Hi, I interviewed for position SDE2 in Bay area ( lab126 - Alexa team), I got a call today from recruiter that they are considering me for position SDE1. I'm still waiting for Team Match from other teams since Alexa team no longer have available openings. 1. Is there any way I can negotiate for SDE2 than SDE1? I already asked recruiter for further interviews for still considering SDE2, but she said it's not possible. 2. Any tips on Team matching? which team I should be targeting considering I need exposure to Machine Learning field? - I want to live in Bay area only 3. What TC range should I be targeting considering SDE1? My background: Total work Experience: 3.5 years ( currently working as Machine learning Engineer for last 1.5 years) Masters: Data Science Bachelors: Electronics
Title is not negotiable. Recruiter will match you with teams with openings, not based on your preference. Only few teams have sde1 openings. tc probably will be at most 180K-190K. I would suggest you don’t take sde1 offer based on your yoe. You would interview again in the coming few months for sde2. Sde2 will get more than 250k in Bay Area. Project scopes are different from sde1 to sde2.
Don’t take sde1
For me, Amazon's team matching has been absolute horror. They always matched me to team that are absolutely unrelated to my expertise.
How did this turn out? I am currently in the same boat and the recruiter is trying to find a team that is hiring SDE1. It would be great if you can talk about your timeline and your experience with team matching.
My recruiter didn't help me for team match. I reached out to HMs and other recruiters on LinkedIn and one of the recruiter responded me and that's how it worked out
How long from the verbal offer did you wait until you decided to start contacting HMs? Did you coordinate with your recruiter or did they inform you to start contacting HMs? I'm in a similar boat, got a verbal offer for an SDE 1 and was told I'd be team matching but it's been a little over 2 weeks and I'm still team matching...
do you have any tips on how to team match? Do I just reach out blindly to HM on LinkedIn?
