Hi everyone, First of all, I'm not in engineering filed so I know nothing about computer science :/ but my younger brother is and he has 2 offers on the table so I'd love to get your thoughts on these offers. He is graduating this upcoming May and I wanna help him make the right decision! 1. IBM, 100k, NYC - Blockchain consultant Good potential(?), sounds glamorous but I'm afraid it might be just traveling constantly to the client sites and be a back-end support for the team? 2. Amazon SWE, 110k, Seattle - Software developer Big name, good starting career, I'm sure he will learn a lot. But I sometimes hear horror stories about Amazon's working environment. However, at the same time, I think IBM position will be just as busy if not more... From someone who has absolutely no background in engineering/comp-sci, I'd go with Amazon. My logic is it will be a good starting career fresh out of college and more opportunities will arise with Amazon on his resume? At the same time, blockchain has been the topic of discussion in the near future so not sure what would be the best for him. The IBM offer expires tomorrow. Any advice/tips would be appreciated, thank you!
I’m actually in the blockchain practice in NYC. Go to amazon without hesitation. I’ll be leaving soon but feel free to DM if you have questions.

Current IBM employee here. Go with the Amazon offer. Looks better on a resume, and there is much much higher salary potential at Amazon. IBM pays you to be average. My roommate recently jumped from IBM to Amazon, and his total comp went from $110k to $200k in the Midwest. IBM band 7 to Amazon SDE2 with about 4 yoe. Worst case is they don't like the job at Amazon and will be able to negotiate a much better salary at a different place.
