I have got an onsite interview request email where the recruiter was asking for total expected compensation(base+equity+bonus). I want to know what would be the best number to put in as I’m not aware of how pay scale system in Amazon works. I dont want to be underpaid and also I dont want to loose the opportunity by putting way higher numbers. I’m in NYC currently and has 8 years of experience. The position in context is with Amazon Seattle(SDE) Any help is greatly appreciated.#leetcode
What level are you interviewing for?
SDE2
250-260 tc
Official range is something like 180-245 in Seattle. For new hires it's generally towards the upper end of that. I've heard the range might be going up this year but just rumors at this point and no one really knows until the new comp bands are published in March/April.
Thanks for the information. I’ve replied that I’ll be discussing the pay after the interview. If they insist me to put a number, I’ll be quoting based on your suggestions. Thanks all
Tell them you'll discuss comp after the interviews. They should not and do not need to ask for that.
This is the right answer. Game theory agrees
