can any one please share compensation range for the senior Software development manager (band L6) in seattle location? **Please note: I've asked a similar question but didn’t provide clear details. sorry for the similar post.
Senior SDM is L7!
I've clearly asked the recruiter, he said title is Sr SDM but the band is L6
L6 IC is Senior engineer. L6 SDM is just called SDM. Senior SDM is L7. Recruiters generally mix this and gets very confusing. You will interview for L6 SDM unless you are in a very senior management role elsewhere or 15+ years experience in tech. L7 is a very high role at Amazon. L6 SDM in Seattle pays you around $350k and L7 SDM around $450k. Base gets capped at $160k rest in stocks or sign on bonus.
Eh? L7s make way more than that.
I'd say L7 SDM median is 450k but can go till around 550-600
L6 in 400k range. L7 >500k (the range is wide)
Lol 400k for L6? Can you refer me?
Of course. I even got 590k offer for L6, but this is out of band. The initial offer was in the mid 400s.
TPMs are way less than these numbers (I got 327K Seattle and had to get exception approval). I am told L7s are only up to 375k or so. Why so much lower than SDM?
Required skills and role expectations are very different. Can you code and design large engineering systems?
I got 415k for L6 nyc
Did you do the math? It's 415, 410, 360, 360. Even with 15pct appreciation subsequent years seem to have a drop off. 1. I dislike how they calculate year 1 to paint a rosy picture 2. The comp doesn't compare to FB Google etc.

Thanks, will look into it.
