I recently interviewed for Amazon Sr tpm role at Amazon hq2. The recruiter called and told me although i was not selected, the hiring team thought I'm a great Amazon fit and will be suitable for l5 tpm. Looks like the role i interviewed for was l6. So the recruiter is going to open my profile to other teams to see if there is a interest. She also mentioned i don't have to interview again and other teams will contact based on my current feedback. Wanted to know if that's common and if anyone has experienced it before?
U will get screwed out of at least 2 yrs l6 pay if u come in as L5, unless u have a good manager who recognizes ur value and re-levels. V v low chance of getting promoted in less than a year.
It’s not really getting screwed out of the pay if they don’t meet the qualifications of an l6...
...but does a promo in less than 15 months ever happen? I was told the roundtable discussion felt I was borderline so wondering if there is any shred of truth into possibly getting a quick promotion.
Promo from L5 to L6 is extremely difficult and there is no such thing as “fast track”. I would hold out, they may reach out in 6 months for another L6 role.
It’s unlikely that will happen if they assessed candidate at lower level in that job family.
That may be true if in the same org. But a diff org may pick them up. Happened many times to past candidates we’ve rejected and recruiters for other orgs reach out for another position with same level we rejected them at.
Thanks a lot for all your replies. I will wait and see what the recruiter comes back with.
I’m curious, did anything happen? Did you get an offer?
OP - did they send you L5 leads or did you source yourself? Any progress?
Normal they always down level
