I have an upcoming phone interview with Amazon for the "System Development Engineer". Can someone help me in providing some tips on what they would focus on apart from LP's. What level of coding questions will be asked from leetcode? If anyone of you had a phone interview in the past, can you please share your interview experience? TC: $105k. #engineering #amazon #systemsdevelopmentengineer. #software
So one of the recruiter reached out to me and asked if I’m open to system development engineer role. He also said there will some questions asked about coding and operational systems. So thinking there will be easy/medium questions from leetcode and some questions on system/OS/networking/Linux.
If you want to be an SDE don't take any other role just to get in. The bar is no lower for sysde just different, and you could be setting yourself up for failure if you don't know the Linux/networking portions.
Currently I do the stuff a mix of developer and DevOps. I’ve good knowledge on Linux and networking portions as well. So that’s the reason I was okay with pursuing this role. In future if you’d like to transition to Software Engineer from systems development Engineer within Amazon, is that transition easy or hard?
I’m a sysde and do exact same work as all the SDEs in my team. LC east/med and some basic Linux internal ques
Thank you!
Will you be able to share, what linux questions i should brushing on ?
For system dev engineer can you ask for up to 400k for L5?
Hey Did you appear for the interview ? How did it go ? Will you be able to share ? What kind of questions were asked in interview?
What team or org is it? In some orgs the role is indistinguishable from SDE (it's technically same payband) in other orgs it is more SDE applied to Linux/systems. In some orgs it's close to syseng (not much dev, more ops and investigative). It really depends where you land as to how much Linuxy questions for instance are going to be asked.
I think it’s for AWS org.
That doesn't really remove any ambiguity. AWS is massive these days with a ton of different pursuits.
