hi, i have an upcoming on-site interview with AWS as a TPM (Technical Program Manager). i was asked to wrote a two pager prior to the interview. i was wondering if anyone else got asked to do this. if so, any tips on how to do it best? also ive never done an onsite TPM interview. can you share the structure and type of questions that get asked during an on-site for a TPM. TC: 140 YOE: 4
I thought this was standard. It is with the TPMs we are interviewing (AWS).
Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know. I’ve never heard of it so it confused me a little. Can you provide me with insight on the kind of interview questions AWS asks for? Any structure of the interviews to help me do well? Thank you for you help btw.
Each interviewer will focus on 3 of the leadership principles (ask interviewer their names and LPs they will target, they may provide that) and will ask you about situations you were in where you exhibited these. Have notes with 2-3 examples for each! You will also get about 3 system design questions. Some will be to describe something you designed (innovative), some around how you would design something (often related to the product/service of the team you are interviewing with). All interviewers will be same or higher level than you are interviewing for. Beware of possible down level. (Maybe you are interviewing with our team ;) )
Haha I’m feeling pretty good about the LP. I’m not sure about the system design as the only online example I could find are very dev centric. Is it supposed to be a technical system design? And when you say product design, do you mean like build a park for the blind? Thank you 😊
It is technical design only but be prepared to get questions to "dive deep". No old Googly questions.
I have an on-site for AWS TPM and they did not ask me to do this
