Amazon Vancouver SDE1 questions

YoE: Slightly over 4 years

I just got a verbal offer by phone today. I was totally not expecting it (especially not on Friday the 13th) but it was a nice surprise. Compensation, start date, and other logistical stuff have not yet been discussed and will take place in a follow up call next week.

In the meantime I have a few questions for Amazonians in Vancouver, BC:
- If you moved from out of town, what were the relocation options like? Do they give you a choice between having movers do it all or having a lump sum, the way many other tech companies do? I have an apartment full of fancy electronics + a vehicle to import from the Detroit area, so I'd prefer to have movers do it all for me.
- What sort of benefits are there? E.g. pharma plans, employee discounts, discounts on other companies' stuff through partnerships (like gym memberships, phone plans, etc)
- How many vacation days per year do you get?
- Would I have a shot at advancing to SDE2 within a year or two given my existing experience?

Progress to L5 is definitely possible in 2 years with your 4yoe. Recently someone posted here that he was offered L5 in Vancouver with just 4yoe though, not sure if it was true. I could only imagine with PhD perhaps.

Apart from this relocation package not sure for L4, wait for the recruiter to send you the details. It should be part of the formal offer. Benefits are the same for everyone regardless the level afaik. You can google the details or just wait for your offer letter.

    Congratulations btw.
