How do annual rewards look for Amazon? Is in cash, stock or both? Planning to move from Microsoft to Amazon soon, thanks.
There is no cash bonus, only rsus that will start vesting 1-2 years later from grant date, until another 1-2 years. If stock price has increased recently, that would be accounted for in your comp calculations. For most folks, its 1-5% base raise, and no stocks.
Also base is capped at 160k in Seattle, so u won’t get any base raises beyond that.
Even outside of NYC 160-185K is max base which is peanuts in today's market and most if the lateral hire have that much base already.
You are penalized for stock appreciation.
Absolutely true.
With the current prices, managers basically tell employees that they are already over the max comp for their band, so they cannot offer much. All L5s on my team that were eligible got between 0-4 RSU. That's a frikkin insult :-) I wasn't eligible as it was my first review cycle.
Why do people stay at Amazon then? If they make it to year 5, do they get refreshers then?
I guess we'll have to watch this over next couple of years. Lot of people who made it to year 5 now have enjoyed significant TC growth thanks to the stock price. Also, when the stock wasn't hight enough 3 years ago that they got 0 refreshers.
From year 5 there are basically guaranteed refreshers unless you have performance issues. But due to stock growth, most employees don't see extra stocks for the first 4 years as they are already overpaid so Amazon doesn't want them to be even more overpaid.
What month are annual rewards/promotions announced at Amazon?
No cash bonuses lol (apart from signing). Annual performance based comp adjustments are purely base raises and RSUs. Also u wouldn’t be eligible for RSU refreshers during ur first review cycle; u would have to wait until ur second year.
What are the average base raise percentages for sde 1,2? Also, thanks this was good info
