Alphabet has so far failed to lower the dependence of its revenue to the ad business (the huge investments in Waymo autonomous car division is an attempt of diversification that is expected to pay off.. but it will take a decade or more to truly ramp up to big numbers) Not to mention FB, which is 100% an ad company, and wants to stick to this juicy business model (see how they have refused to own the "fake news" issue by denying being more than a tech platform, and how they are downscaling on media contents, to favor your friends and family posts -supposedly more addictive and therefore more attractive to ad publishers). Amazon is already a vastly diversified company that can make so many moves in so many more directions towards an always more integrated, centralized and ultimately fully controlled value chain. This is a much more robust position than FB and Google. Ultimately though, I believe FB is more exposed than Google.
Exposed to what? Do you believe advertising is a this-or-that market? I think marketing will expand to Amazon. It’s highly unlikely Facebook or Google will see smaller or fewer investments in their ad-space.
It is not abour Amazon s threat per se, my point is the the strongest companies can wake up one day and ask "Who moved my cheese", especially as they rely on One type of cheese. Google has many possible avenues to diversify and live a long life. FB is exposed by their arrogance.
Amazon sucks at ML tho, don’t think they can build a competitive ads system.
Amazon is threat to existence - LOl
“Competition” and “threat” aren’t synonymous. Competition is positive and stimulating. Bears turning loose in the office are a threat.
