Amazon TC consists of a big bonus in year 1 and 2 to make up for back-heavy RSU schedule. Is this bonus paid right away quarterly starting once you join for experienced candidates? (Eg Google and FB both start to pay RSUs quarterly right when you start, there is no 1 year cliff)
It's usually paid monthly in prorated amounts. Sometimes it's paid in advance as a lump sum but that's less common. The back weighting is actually quite a good thing. You get cash in the first two years and then in the last two your have a lot of stock growth built in by then. It's the fifth year that hurts where you go from vesting shares with 4yrs growth baked in to vesting shares with only 2yrs growth.
But is it paid monthly starting right away? Or paid monthly after first year?
Right away
Generally it is one lump sum in year one and then monthly in year two. But if you are offered monthly for year one you can ask to change it to once with your first paycheck and 100% of the time they would do that
Unless things changed the first year portion is one time lump sum and the second year portion is pro rated monthly
Things have changed now. Starting 2018 they have been giving first and second year bonuses monthly prorated. No lump sum now.
I joined in 2014 and got monthly pro rated
