I can’t think of any company that provides job security, high pay, mobility and high career growth opportunities like Amazon does. Not a single company. For example Netflix or hedge funds may pay better but their mobility is shit and so is their job security. Career growth is limiting due to it being in one sector of the industry while at Amazon I can bounce from Amazon Prime to AWS to Twitch to games without much issues. Other companies like Microsoft or Google may have slightly better job security while offering comparable mobility and career growth but won’t match the Amazon pay for top talent. Finally Amazon has the best comp policy in the entire industry and their refreshers are extremely fair due to being performance based. I was able to go from 198k to 310k at Amazon in the same role solely due to performance. I love working at Amazon and can’t think of anywhere Else I’d rather be. TC 310k

Everyone knows about PIP and I absolutely included it in the evaluation. The bottom 5% don’t define a company. As long as you aren’t terrible there is great job security at Amazon. It’s not hard to stay off PIP.
Guess Amazon really does have a low hiring bar. Makes sense why google and other FAANG have higher standards.

Please tell me this post isn’t for real…the part about the refreshers is pure comedy. Amazon is the only place where your TC can go down even when the stock price goes up or stays flat. Their 15% expected yearly stock increase is total bullshit.
The 15% growth assumption is to calculate your target TC for RSU grants. If your TC doesn’t make the target since assumption ended up not happening you are given more RSUs to adjust you back to target. We do yearly adjustments.
I have a crazy idea, how about Amazon gives me more RSUs depending on my performance every year regardless of what my previous RSUs are worth. Sounds pretty wild, I know, just kinda thought maybe I shouldn’t be punished for the company value appreciating. BTW this is how basically every other FAANG does it.
