I have recently given an on-site interview at Amazon. Yesterday, I got an email from recruiter with the subject "Amazon follow up" and asking me for time slots where she can connect me on my interview. Can I expect a reject? Thanks TC: 130k Update: Got a reject. Thanks a lot for the response people.
No
You can expect offer I would guess
It depends. What’s your confidence level? Did you feel great about the interview? If so, you can expect good news. If you are not happy the way you performed, then it is most likely that they aren’t happy either. Amazon usually emails / calls directly to inform if they reject the candidate. If they are planning on scheduling a time to discuss, there could be a positive update (again not to excite you too much about it)
It was an interview for an ML role. I focused more on leetcode and system design and bombed the technical questions on ML. I felt I should have brushed the basic concepts at least. Also, I felt I messed up some behavioral questions with the HM. So I'm not that confident.
That’s okay. Not everyone can do a 100% with the prep time you may have for the interview. Even if you did 80% and were solid on how you solved the coding and system design problems, you should be fine. There is no right or wrong answer in the behavioral aspect. As long as you were able to create an impact and tell the story appropriately, you are good. Luck matters everywhere. So let’s hope for the best. When is your call scheduled?
If they want to talk on the phone, I'd assume it's good news. Amazon tends to just give a quick rejection email if you fail.
Well, my friend got rejected over a call after the on-site. So I believe we can't tell.
Looks like an offer
Offer , maybe downlevel
I'd guess it's an offer.
For me, they just called without any schedule and informed that they will be extending an offer in 2-3 days. I gave the on-site on Monday and they called at 5PM on Friday. The recruiter was kind enough to let me know that she wanted me to have a good weekend without worrying about the result.
The recruiter called me on Friday too. As I didn't allegedly didn't pick up (I didn't get the call), she was asking me for a time slot after the weekend.
Okay. Maybe it’s not reject. Typically if they did not get you on call, then they shoot rejection email.
If you are getting multiple calls from recruiter, it may be a good news. Usually, recruiters from Amazon don’t give a shit if they didn’t want to offer.
