Amazon has no chill

Amazon introduces a ton of new Alexa-enabled products, including a microwave and car gadget. Do you guys take a loss on each of these products? https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/20/amazon-announcing-alexa-enabled-hardware-products.html

Wow, this is so overboard. Alexa play Despacito.

Alexa, why do I need you in my microwave?

Microsoft return(0) OP Sep 20, 2018

I remember shopping for a microwave, $59 is a very good price for one.

For sure although a good microwave is more like 500 dollars so hope this isn't too jenky.

I don't think Amazon would take a loss if they started giving hard cash away. Investors just keep dumping funds into the organization. Bezos is a frickin jenius.

What do you mean by loss.

Microsoft return(0) OP Sep 20, 2018

As in it costs more money to make them than the selling price.

Microsoft @zzz Sep 20, 2018

It actually doesn't. Rnd cost of building Alexa tech stack is already sunk cost. What they now need to do is, spread that cost as much as possible. As long as the marginal cost is less than the variable cost of producing a unit, which is probably true in this case they are good. The more products they can spread the fixed cost to, the better.

No focus, just throwing a bunch of stuff to see what sticks..
