Worked at Amazon Seattle office and then moved to Wamart in SF there is a huge diffference in the employment experience in these two giants Amazon has such a great work culture. people never gossiped about anyone and were always ready to help out others. there was flexibility on when you can come and go. shuttle options were too many and used to run all day (almost) so if you are not feeling like working or just wanna go home, you can go home. their IT support in the building and on phone was amazing and they knew their stuff . Seattle and its weather was amazing and the driving distances were less too. rents were still affordable. now coming to Walmart. politics is every freaking where. people tend to notice things and say things out loud so that people around can hear and gossip abt it later. management is inconsiderate of work life balance. they just want employee to burn out and work even on weekends. shuttle options are very very limited and there is no flexibility (as far as i have seen). IT support is BAD . they never attend the call and their answer is mostly “i dont know”. on top of that, the so far hot Cali weather and insane traffic distances not to mention the over bloated real estate market for those who move to Bay area for money (like i did) make sure you are getting enough so you can let go these things otherwise trust me its not worth it. edited: OLD TC - 100k NEW TC - 190K
You miss the banana that much ?
I was expecting bananas at every location but apparently it's just one office in Seattle? Very disappointed.
Sounds like you made an uninformed decision. Were you picking your nose during your interviews?
Previous and new TC ?
Walmart labs is awesome.. cool tech.. the challenge of kicking Amazon A$$... I work 10am-4.30. I travel to other offices when I want and above all.. i spend lots of time with my family. That said. Others might not be in good teams. Many of the Sunnyvale teams operate with a Bangalore culture and work long hours... avoid those teams.
OP didn't specifically mention Walmart labs. Maybe they just joined regular Walmart as a greeter?
Yeah because greeters use blind 🤣
All I read was “I’ve been spoiled. Old TC 100, new TC 190.”
The trick to respecting your current company is to go to a worse company.
Op, you need to make a poll. Maybe Amazon will win this time
? Gossip is everywhere on my team... everyone is also burning out and leaving without replacing them.
When OP was spoiled in Amazon, people in surrounding made should kid should not hear the stuff which is not good for kid.
Didn’t you just double your salary ? Look at the brighter side
Only on Blind Amazon is like hell. In real life it’s just an American corporation with a lot of good things.
The vesting schedule certainly doesn't fall into that list of good things. Nor do the target adjusted bonuses.
Total comp does reasonably fall into that list. Vesting schedule is not. Vesting schedule is nice at Uber, seeing how their stock turns out to be? 👀
