A hiring manager has reached to me for a introductory chat instead of a recruiter through linkedin and we have set up a 30min call next week. Is this normal for a hiring manager to reach out directly for SWE roles. What can I expect in this call? Mostly backgroud and behavioral focusing on Amazon core value? Has anyone recivied similar call from hiring manager ? TC:210 YOE 8
Yes, very normal. Happens to me every other month.
Of course it’s normal. The goal is to find the right candidate, the channel doesn’t matter.
That's how I was recruited into Amazon.
It happens when HM thinks the recruiters suck, or HM is desperate to fill the piped roles.
Did you mean PIP(Ed) roles?
Normal. Just advances you a step in the process.
The recruiters I work with tell me that candidates are generally more responsive to reach outs from hiring managers. They then give me a template to send and a list of people. It's just a different strategy to get candidates to engage.
Op - Can you post your experience for the benefit of others?
I received one from apple’s hiring manager. I think its normal.
