Amazon in NYC

Proponents of this say that Amazon bringing 30k employees will be great because they will contribute to the economy. How exactly? As a FB employee I admit I don’t support the local economy. Pretty much everything I do is at FB, run by FB employees. Or it’s a partnership with another large company (ie Salesforce). Let’s be real, I’ve just displaced folks that have been in SF a longtime and am reaping the benefits without giving back much. The same will happen in Long Island City. NY is just shooting itself in the foot.

Ok

They should keep all these companies to Manhattan. Leave the rest of NY free

More high paying employees in local community means more tax revenue for the city. Also, Amazon believes in Darwinism, only the strongest ones will survive. If local people are lazy and can't keep up, they need to fuck themselves and move elsewhere. Having lived in a place for a long time doesn't mean you are entitled to be there forever. Those who can't keep up will be flushed out and replaced by the competitive ones. It's just how the world works.

High paying Amazon jobs, bigger tax receipts for the city, stimulates local economy.
