Xbox service won't be affected, but it seems like the end of Stadia. Yet another service shut down by G 😑
What?! Why do you think Luna would force Stadia to get shut down?
Cause Stadia is shit. The value to customers is not there at all. Stadia is still charging per game while Amazon is heading into the subscription model, which is clearly the future of Cloud gaming. Google isn't relevant in gaming. Its going to be Amazon leveraging Twitch vs Microsoft.
No games. People have Netflix to watch their original content like the Witcher, not for the cool tech.
Yeah, there is this gamble that core gamers love to watch other gamers play and that esports will be more popular that espn. There is a certain blindness to pubs like newzoo that show Desktop is DYING. Console is steady and mobile, in particular in asia, is the bomb where the biggest games are free to play and not mmp. Sounds like the wrong focus to me.
Read this article and a few others too. Friends have been working on this since 2017. My crystal ball is that it will be an epic fail. Let's list a few reasons why (aside from EE, recently on his career coach tour, and MF, who seems to have troubles with his EAs, had some hand in - cough Lumberyard - cough Crucible - cough Prime Games). 1. Twitch integration. The community hates wrenches, and hates Amazon more. Pretty sure any integration have appsec and infosec exceptions ready to feed more SIRTs. Twitch also tends to kill good things (Curse?) 2. Alexa integration. So far Alexa hasn't shown much promise outside Ocean Waves and Flash News. Gamers love discord. 3. US only. Twitch is international. Prime and PV are international. 4. It is only a matter of time before AGS plans for microtransations get on the radar of Apple and Google. (Spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to sneak around that under EE's ethical guidance.)
+1 I worked at Irvine Amazon. It's hilarious they've had a whole games org for like 10? years and I only game I can name is Crucible since it was such an epic failure.
MF is a clown. Amazon needs to keep him as far from games as possible. What’s the opposite of a Midas touch?
"The Sadim Touch"... I sure hope Gabe gets his _ together, he hates Amazon, and Valve would be an amazing ally.
Lol
Having worked at Amazon for 4 years. Amazon eng is sub par so I would be highly surprised if they can get very good gaming experience.
The controller looks like shit
Are they working on Vaccine as well?🗣
No
compare prime video to Netflix and you have your answer
It's all about the content.
Jeff B probably has teams working overtime to get a fitness service running to compete with Peloton too lol
Looks like they do have plans to compete with peloton. This one was stopped, but I won’t be surprised to see a product coming from them with amazon partnership in future. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/23/business/amazon-prime-bike-echelon-fitness/index.html
