If you don't have a relevant story or situation for a leadership principle, what do you people suggest - Making up something or honestly telling them I've never faced that situation?

Amazonian here. It’s all a bunch of bull anyways. No one really follows them, politics as Usual. Make up whatever you want.

Really depends on the org. Besides customer obsession, I don’t see much happening anymore.

Nobody said special. I said it was a widely used methodology. I imagine you have a hard time in most places with your reading comprehension being so poor.

Good job at giving your opinion? Wanna cookie?

If you are fresh out of college, then they aren’t as important. If you’ve spent time in industry and are entering higher up, they actually are pretty important. But you should also be able to come up with real world stories for most of them if you’ve been working. Some are more important than others in interviews. Things around customers, having backbone, what happens when you disagree with people, etc.

With due respect - I’m in AWS and I really don’t see people following them. Especially L7+. It’s about what’s convenient in the org, the political cross-winds, what was done before and the need to prove that right instead of learning from mistakes. Instead of telling people outside of Amazon on how important they are, may be we should do some work internally to remind people about them.

This was very helpful. I'm just coming up on my 2nd year at work.. not a lot of time to have a specific example for every principle, but I guess I can make it work. Thanks Humans of Blind!

For 2 yoe, the expectation is not that you would excel at all LP. But you have to show that you do it at some .... May be deep dive, deliver results etc

Focus on customer obsession, bias for action, dive deep, earn trust, and deliver results.

Ppl do go through them when you are experienced although we don't notice many such situations despite facing and handling them..... If you are experienced, think through in your past

It's critical you have something - make it up if you have to. Lack of datapoints are not a good thing, you won't be seen as meeting the bar or raising it
