I’m a recent college grad and received a verbal offer for SDE1 from Amazon yesterday. I’m waiting for a written offer with numbers now. I was wondering if anyone here has an accurate information about Amazon greencard policy for 3yearOPT&SDE1&bachelor degree&non-chinese/indian/mexican. Some say Day1 and others say not for SDE1, so I wanted to ask someone who has access to the written policy or has recently gone through the process! Appreciate any comments! Thank you
Speaking from experience. Amazon can start your green card process as SDE I but you will not be able to file AOS ( last step of GC) until you are SDE II. When filling your PERM(first step of GC), Amazon has to prove that they couldn't hire anyone who is a US citizen and had to hire you. It's difficult to make that case for a SDE I right out of college. If you have experience after graduation then this could be different. So they will likely file your PERM for future SDE II role. So, yes you can start but can only finish it after you get promoted.
Thank you so much for the info! I will have worked as software engineer around 5 months after college by the time I start at amazon. It’s short, wonder if it’d help. I know it’s Perm(LC?)-140-485(separate or together). Where does AOS fit in this order? And is it Amazon policy to not file AOS until SDE2? Why is that?
If you are an Indian, you don't have to worry about AOS in this life. Adjustment of status from 485 to GC. You will need your manager's approval to initiate the process.
L4 needs L6 or above manager approval
Thank you!
Was wondering how the process went?
TC?
I don’t know yet, my recruiter said she will get back to me by tomorrow. Does TC make difference?
What is TC?
