Does Amazon negotiate for a SDE1 role if you have a strong competing offer? The TC for first year all inclusive is 135.5k for Seattle. Have a competing offer that is 200k+ first year and 180k starting second year for California. Does it make sense to negotiate with Amazon, or try after a year for the next level?
That is on the terribly low end of TC for Amazon... I would present your competing offer and ask for something comparable.
Yup, pretty low.
They negotiate for industry hire SDE1’s, but not for new grads. Which one are u?
New Grad :(
People graduating in 2017 could negotiate, then amazon stopped negotiating for 2018+.
The .5 (of 135.5k) is killing me :)))) Like how old are you? 22.5?
Hahaha. Blame the poor vesting schedule
You should be able to negotiate if you didn't go through UR. I managed doing that for SDE1.
Definitely, check out http://levels.fyi
Yes. I negotiated in 2016 with competing intel offer. I got 140k TC which was my asking number. 115 base, 80 rsu, 20k sign on. I had 7 months experience prior, out of school.
So you were a recent grad and not a new grad technically.
Always negotiate!
