Not comparing with Google, Facebook, Apple, Netflix or pre-IPO Unicorns (we all know what Blind thinks about that) Comparing it with consulting (Accenture, Deloitte, etc), Finance (BoA, ...), manufacturers, energy companies (GE,..), airlines and similar, etc... Asking for engineers and considering TC, WLB and growth as main drivers.
If you seen the engineering practices at smaller companies, Amazon looks like paradise
Depends on category and what you care most about, TC, almost always way better. WLB probably way worse, though maybe if you dislike travel some consultancies are equal. Growth, probably better
Personally, all companies considered I think Amazon is the best organization to be a part of. The moment I feel differently is the moment I’ll move to the next best company.
i'm at IBM and I think Amazon is much better than IBM
It used to be the case, but nowadays non tech companies are really ramping up in terms of compensation and focus towards tech. When I first joined Home Depot as an SWE, for example, starting salary was 67k for new hires. Now it's around 95k ish in Atlanta with a small signing bonus
95k is still far behind I would say
Behind? In Atlanta? What more could you want for a company with insane wlb and barely an interview process to get into

Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
For all we complain, the money we make even at the low end would make most people outside of tech envious. We can only pity ourselves so much.
